kinderen – Portret-en-zo | Fotografie https://portret-en-zo.nl Photography and more Thu, 21 May 2015 12:33:44 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Long time – no see https://portret-en-zo.nl/long-time-no-see Thu, 21 May 2015 12:33:44 +0000 https://portret-en-zo.nl/?p=687 Oeps!

Whoa! It’s been a terribly long time since I posted anything at all – in spite of all the things that happened since my last post. I have had quite a few commissions, been busy with my photography education, busier with my communications work and running through life with my dearest 4. Hectic (as we are all – no doubt). Picking up the thread where I left it gradually became more difficult; because, where to start? I now thought to just wander through my work in (somewhat) chronological order. Enjoy this time, and the next posts of the photo’s made in the past year. For me these family and children shoots continue to be little gifts that I am allowed to unwrap. Valuable, inspiring and treasured.

My daughter celebrated her fourth (FOURTH!) birthday last week. This asked for big celebrations as four is a special age. The age that she goes to school. It’s also a moment that you realize how fast they grow; your children. And that you should give yourself the present of seeing them each and every single day. Often I give myself this present when they sleep, and look so young once again. And of course, when they just woke up and have not just yet completely entered into the day. Give yourself this present as well, it’s for free and priceless!

Stormy Beach https://portret-en-zo.nl/stormy-beach Tue, 24 Jan 2012 22:02:20 +0000 https://portret-en-zo.nl/?p=234 Just a quick post to show the difference from one lovely beach day to the next. Storm, huge waves, foam, sand in our eyes, mouth, hair and everywhere else.. It was not to be compared with a week ago when it was sunny – spring time. BUT these were beachy moments nonetheless! And, like the lone wanderer, kite and wind surfers, we enjoyed them tremendously.

Beachy moments https://portret-en-zo.nl/beachy-moments Mon, 16 Jan 2012 22:42:07 +0000 https://portret-en-zo.nl/?p=216 What wonderful 2 days we had here in the Netherlands! And as it was the weekend, me and my family went to have a few beachy moments. The first of 2012. And so happy to live close to the sea and have those precious moments at the ready whenever I feel like having them. And living in the Netherlands, those ‘sunbaked’ beachy moments are rare – whether on cold days, or warm ones. It was a great cure against the ‘end-of-year’-blues I always suffer from in January. Having lost the Christmas tree for another 360some days always does that to me. The feeling of having lost something…. It takes a week or so and then I come to realize that there’s so much to look forward to in the upcoming year, and those beachy moments inspire the first of this year’s future memories: a weekend on the island Texel, skiing in Austria with my 6 and 3 year old, Philippine’s 7th birthday, Easter at my parents, Pierrick’s ever expanding vocabulary, dinners with friends, Josephine going to school when she turns 4 in May, Xavier’s birthday (alas, 42), Mother’s Day (and yes, the Father as well), ballet perfomance, summer holidays in spent in France (yes, another summer), me reaching the big 4 0, the biking evening at school, Pierrick’s 2nd birthday – by which he walks of course, Sinterklaas on the roof and then… Christmas … and much more.

But let us start at the beach, yesterday. Philippine was at a friend’s birthday party. So we went just the four of us (and about xx1000 other people, let’s not over-romantisize of course) for a stroll and a hot choclate, and apple crumble pie, and brownie at Tijn Akersloot and then back. Simple as that.

Summer at Saint Pierre https://portret-en-zo.nl/summer-at-saint-pierre Fri, 09 Dec 2011 14:54:05 +0000 https://portret-en-zo.nl/?p=187 I am going through my summer vacation photo’s and was reminded of how wonderful those weeks were. Three weeks of sun we had in La Douce France. First we enjoyed the hospitality provided by Hein and Jacqueline during our two weeks at Domaine Saint Pierre in the Languedoc close to Pézenas. Here’s proud ‘Hondje’ next to Hein’s ancient Renault4.

And we finished our vacation with one week at Mas Sainte Cécile in the Camargue – a 10minutes drive from Arles. Yes, the town where Vincent van Gogh lived.

During our two weeks at Saint Pierre we met a bunch of wonderful people, or families rather, that we spent our time with. My daughters enjoyed their mornings, afternoons and evenings with all the girls running about, and we enjoyed the pool or dinner with our son Pierrick and the girls’ parents. One of those families was Family Van Ekelenburg, or rather Jilles, Sigrid, Nout & Lizet. I shot a number of pictures of them. Especialliy Lizet, Nout & their friends during an evening of BBQ-ing, playing, dancing and fun. A wonderful summer, great memories (of which I will share more later) and definitely a place to return to (which we will… next summer!).
