Sneeuw in de tuin

De media gingen uit hun dak over de 10 cm sneeuw die vandaag is gevallen, maar wij waren met z’n allen verrukt van het prachtige winterwit! Genoten hebben we van dat witte moois vandaag – jullie ook? Meteen de (tot nu toe vergeten) bolletjes voor de vogels uit de kast gehaald en in de tuin opgehangen. Toen realiseerde ik me dat je in een besneeuwde tuin het leven daar ineens beter ziet: de ‘weggetjes’ van de vogels, of de steelse stappen van een poes die  je tuin doorkruist. Dat leven dat zich buiten je blikveld ontvouwt en zich nu aan je openbaart. Ook verbaasde ik me over de grote knoppen aan de magnoliaboom en de nog steeds (inmiddels verijsde) aanwezige roos… De natuur staat blijkbaar nooit helemaal stil (dit in tegenstelling tot de Nederlandse snelwegen op winterse dagen).  Nu is het grote hopen op die witte kerst echt begonnen. Geniet de komende weken, maar beloof me af en toe stil te staan en te kijken naar dat kleine universum in je tuin om ook daarvan te genieten!

The media went crazy these last few days due to the forecasted 10cm of snow that fell today. But we were delighted to see that wonderful winter white! We so enjoyed all the white beauty today – did you do so too? I immediately went out into my garden to hang the little fat balls for the birds (which I had totally forgotten so far). Once in the garden I realized that the snow allows you to see life over there: you see the ongoings of the birds by their little ‘roads’, or the stealthy steps of a cat. Also, I was surprised by the large butts on the magnolia tree and the still presence of a rose…. Nature, apparently, never completely stops (this contrary to the Dutch highways on winter days). Now, let’s hope for that White Christmas. Enjoy the upcoming weeks, but promise me to stop, just once in a while, and see that little universe in your garden and enjoy that too!
